SS24 “STILL IN MOTION”

TheSS24 collection is titled "Still In Motion," a juxtaposition of two seemingly contradictory words. The concept revolves around showcasing a strong sense of motion and movement even in static or stationary situations.

Drawing inspiration from contemporary sculpture and painting that focuses on abstract forms and motion, the designer delves into the works of artists such as Lynn Chadwick's "Stabile with Mobile Elements" (1950), Stephen Gilbert's "Structure 14C" (1961), John Well's "Sea Bird Forms" (1951), and Giacomo Balla's "Abstract Speed - The Car has Passed" (1913). The exploration centres around the practice of capturing motion within a stationary state.

By analysing and extracting the structures, forms, lines, and materials from these artworks, they serve as references for the design process. The essence of motion is reinterpreted through pattern manipulation, complemented by contemporary and versatile design practices that convey strength and movement. The collection embraces sensibly utilitarian designs that incorporate innovative and intricate finishes, steeped in functionality, seamlessly integrated with ready-to-wear forms.
